Keiko Kiyota's Bio

Keiko Kiyota acquired her kimono-making skill in Japan in a four -year apprenticeship to a master kimonot  maker. Utilizing the skill, she began making Osaikumono in addition to kimono, and exhibited her work at galleries and exhibitions in Japan.

Keiko moved to Vancouver, BC, Canada in 1999, and has been concentrating on Osaikumono as well as Oshie, exhibiting her work at local galleries and craft shows in the Greater Vancouver area. In addition to creating her own work, she actively teaches classes and workshops.

Each piece is carefully hand sewn, stitch, making good use of the textures, patterns, and colours of Japanese fabrics, including those from kimono and obi.
